ABOUT ME
It all started in the early '90s at a classical radio station in Maine. I began my VO career writing & voicing commercial ad copy for local business clients to create a new 'word of mouth' advertising buzz in a small, print-heavy market. It was the era of the 'big announcer' radio voice- a style that didn't always fit the vibe of my clients. To create ad campaigns that were more 'business-next-door' friendly, I began voicing the ads myself- taking a more relatable, 'pop on by' approach than mainstream radio ads to help humanize the businesses and encourage consumer spontaneity. The campaigns started to take off in our small-town market and the response to the relatable commercial style was tangible- we were off and running.
After my years in radio, I took a job in PR & event sales and became a wedding officiant, consultant, and coordinator- keeping a few freelance commercial voiceover clients on the side. When the commercial VO industry became dominated by name-recognized actors and high-end pros, I got out for a while. The recent rise of home studio technology, the YouTube e-learning explosion and the changes in consumerism, renewed my interest in the field. I now specialize in voiceovers that are relatable, knowledgeable and compassionate- building relationships between client and listener through the mic. My niche is the role of an intimate advisor- when an honest sound to create/exude/sell with emotional depth is what's needed.
My skills include copywriting, brand development and image campaign consulting in addition to voiceovers, audio sales & production. I look forward to consulting with you and giving your business a fresh voice.
